Other settlements in the Municipality of Borovnica
Niževec is one of the Borovnica’s smallest villages. It lies between the marshy valley, fed by a stream Izber and hill slopes of Planina. The clustered village is passed by a marked hiking trail, which leads to Zabočevo and Rakitna. West of the village runs a smaller stream Trešenk, which in the past ran two mills.
In 1411 the place was mentioned as “Misawcz”, “Nishovecz” and “Nzovecz”. There is an old drying room for fruit in the village, built around 1900, and is registered as cultural heritage.
